The story... RADM Chuck Horne was being recognized for his efforts on behalf of Mine Warfare with the Distinguished Service Medal.  Admiral Horne proudly pinned a MN1 crow on ADM Tom Hayward's sleeve in front of the assembled command personnel.  In 2005, I [Ron Swart] had a chance to reminisce with ADM Hayward about that day and he recalled it very clearly.  [Explanation submitted by Ron Swart & Bob Defrees]
